The Oriana singers are a chamber choir of 25 - 30 singers, based in the Dursley/Wotton-under-Edge area in Gloucestershire. Most choir members come from the surrounding towns and villages. In a friendly rehearsal atmosphere we work hard to achieve a high standard of concert performance.

Musical Director David Moss
David was born in Southampton and graduated from Cambridge University in Mechanical Engineering. He now lives in Uley with his wife Mary, who sings in the choir, a dog and four ferrets. He has been Director of Music of Oriana Singers for twelve years. Previously he was Director of Music of the Diatonic Singers in Leamington Spa, which he founded with a group of friends in 1987. The Oriana and Diatonic Singers made a very successful tour of Seville and Granada last year. | Accompanist James Corbett |
|---|
James Corbett grew up in Manchester and had piano lessons from the age of six to eighteen at the Northern School of Music. He left with a performer’s ARCM. He read physics at Oxford and went on to do research there and at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen before spending almost his entire (and disgracefully short) working life as a research officer with the CEGB and its successors at Berkeley Nuclear Laboratories. During this time he took part in various choral activities and conducted a small madrigal group. He started accompanying choirs a year before taking early retirement and is now accompanist to Tyndale Choral Society and Cotswold Chorus as well as Oriana. He is also deputy organist and choirmaster at St Mary’s, Berkeley, and sings bass in Bristol Choral Society and Amberley Chamber Choir.
Apart from musical activites, James is a keen walker, highlights in recent years being the Tour du Mont Blanc, the Annapurna circuit and the Cambrian Way
We need more BASSES!
At the moment we need to recruit at least 3 basses, so if you are interested in becoming a member of the bass section contact David Moss (see 'Contact Us)
