Rodborough Wednesday Group
Began 1961, still going ... 2009
Some years ago in Rodborough,
Young mothers gathered together,
Formed a small like-minded group,
Metting in all kinds of weather!
Different speakers were invited
To uplift an adult mind,
Time for the ladies alone,
Some other interest to find.
Just one evening every month,
Visiting a different venue,
Comparing notes on latest trends,
Exchanging a recipe or two.
Once tall, slim "dolly-birds",
Teetering on fashionable heels,
Now have to resort to comfy brogues.
Knowing how each corn feels!!
Children have matured to adulthood,
Long-since have flown the nest,
But now as doting Grandmothers,
Our ladies have little time to rest.
But each member of the group,
Still values the congenial round,
And eagerly awaits each friend,
And their familiar, welcome sound.
So here's to the Rodborough Group,
Who meet on a Wednesday night,
May they all keep in good health,
And put old-age to flight!!
