On the 24th of May I went to a Survival Skills weekend at Miserden Park, on the first day the weather was fine but for the rest of the weekend it was WET WET WET. We had to do a 24 hour survival course which meant only being allowed a torch, sleeping bag, mug, First aid kit and a few bin liners for wet stuff (well I think that’s it). Luckily on the first day when the weather was good we were given lessons on survival. We were then told to go into the woods and build our shelter, (on the first night we were given a tarp and string for our shelter). Also on the course we had to gut a trout and skin a rabbit (yuch) we were also shown the process of gutting a chicken (I almost threw up). When we went home my dad said “it looked like a scene from a war film with all the muddy people emerging from the woods”. SO if you want to get caked in mud and sleep out in the open, then go on the survival skills weekend when bad weather is predicted.
