22 Nov 2011 - Uley Christmas Boxes
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the village Christmas shoebox appeal. A total of 56 boxes from Uley school, playgroup, toddlers, St Giles Church and many individuals were collected today. The 1,000 boxes on the van will be taken to the Evesham depot for onward distribution probably to Belarus or Bosnia. The collectors reported that currently 18,000 boxes had been received of which 11,000 were ready for distribution and 7000 were being checked. Hilary Weeks

26 August 2009 A Few Things Happening at The Surgery
1.Congratulations to Dr Steel who has been appointed as Medical Director for Gloucestershire PCT, a 3 year secondment. This is a part time appointment starting on 1st September. He will be doing his "normal" Mondays and Fridays in the practice. Dr Liz Johnson has been appointed on a long term basis to cover Dr Steels’ other sessions. Liz lives locally and qualified from Bristol in 1999, she has a young family and has been working as a GP in Somerset for the past 5 years.
2.There is no further progress on with the new surgery in Dursley. A definite decision is needed for the site of the new hospital, as the new houses are not yet being built there is no need to rush the decision.
3. Uley Surgery are due to change the computer software soon ( no definite date, "weeks not months"). Systems have to be accredited and Uley’s system has not kept up to date nationally and needs to be changed. The new system will be fantastic once everyone is familiarised with it, but that will take a while. There will be a planned transition week when the Surgery will be an emergency service only. Please bear with the staff over the first month or so whilst they become proficient.
