Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV

Stroud District Council run Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Classes. This class offers people who have previously suffered a cardiac episode the opportunity to exercise in a safe and friendly environment, with highly trained professionals.
The class incorporates an activity session and lifestyle information such as diet and nutritional advice.
To attend the class you must see a GP, Nurse or Phase III instructor so that they can refer you. Each sessions costs £2
Classes take place every Thursday @ Stratford Park Leisure Centre

GP Referral Scheme

Stroud District Council currently operates an exercise referral scheme at Stratford Park Leisure Centre called 'Healthy Lifestyles'.
The scheme enable individuals to be reffered by their GP/Practice Nurse to a variety of activities in order to improve their health and lifestyle habits.
The scheme involves a 12 week supervised physical activity programme where people can learn how to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
Inclusive Fitness Initiative is a jointly funded project between Sport England and Stroud District Council. IFI makes developments in access, fitness equipment and sports development for people with disabilities.
IFI operates around five key principles:
• Accessible facilities
• Inclusive fitness equipment
• Staff with appropriate training and skills
• Appropriate, inclusive marketing strategies
• The development of alternative inclusive sporting opportunities
The combination of these elements ensures that IFI creates not only accessible facilities, but inclusive environments.
